I was training tonight doing Mixed Martial Arts and nearly dislocated my left shoulder.
I've had a complete reconstruction about 3 years ago and it's healed completely, but I'm totally depressed that I nearly did it again.
The metal anguish is killing me.
Do I continue to do something I love, or take it easy and not risk it again?

Personally, I'd take it easy. As a skater for 12yrs I stopeed at 18 but 10yrs on and my ankles are fooked!

Well kappa,
I am a runner and I also have degenrative joint disease. I just found out that I will never be able to run a marathon (my last goal). As hard as that was to deal with, I figured giving up something I love (running) is better than giving up walking.

yo I dislocated my left foot april last year it was terrible had a cast on for three months my leg is thinner than the other one still, however I still skate it is a huge mental block to get over and try to do the same things again but when you get there you feel like you can overcome anything.
Yo hutch I am back form france :)

Have had both my knees dislocated, did the second one in March and ended up pulling it back round myself - weren't nice. I still worry about doing certain things that might twist them out and still wear a support on one, (even though I don't need to).
I'd recommend looking into ways of really building up the strength/muscle in your shoulder, and have it checked by a physio every now and again.
If that doesn't work, you could always try not getting hit in your classes... ;)

I'd dislocated it 15 times before having the OP. From rollerblading, swimming, surfing, and in the end It came out in my sleep. Once the ligament is stretched your pretty much fucked!
It's been fixed, but the mental scarring is the hardest thing to get over.
Knowing exactly what could happen. It' like kids doing anything are fearless cause they don't realy consider the consequenses.
Cheers, guys, I think I'll rest up take it easy for a while, concentrate on rehab & then ease back into it.

good luck kappa.
btw - i wasn't trying to belittle your situation, i was merely joking about your typo.
