OK, my full time/over time job and boss is driving me crazy. Half of my job I like, the other half is shit work that blows. I do reprographics which only allows about 25% creativity.
The other hand, I have a freelance client that is starting a new company. There's already a wide demand for their product and me working some nights for them isn't keeping up with what they need. My work with them is 90% creative including, package, brochure, logo, web and collateral design. They're ready to bring me on at 25% more than my current salary.
Should I quit and go for creative, or should I stick it out at my current full time job? My full time is the best paying job I've had to date, but I'm not sure how happy I am here because of the stress. On the freelance side, there's no guarantee they'll be around 6 months down the road. There's other variables involved as well, such as I might be moving to North Carolina in May (freelance client knows this, full time doesn't). Oh, and the freelance client is willing to pay me 2 months severance.

sounds like you have answered your own question tymeframe. Take the freelance gig, but keep your insurance from the fulltime gig until you go to NC. You will be quitting your fulltime gig to goto NC anyway, so why not. only thing you need to think about is the money difference in insurance. got to have it.

i say you go with the freelance job. it might be a little scary going into the unknown but it sounds like a great opportunity.
where in NC might you be moving?

Freelance... the load will be lifted and knowing you are working solely for yourself. Whatever OT you have to do is just going into your pocket and not someone elses.
Also, if you are planning to relocate, you can probably take the freelance with you.
Freedom rings...

freelance! never work to make rich people more rich.
also, if it's more creative, you will be happier. and if you are good, you never have to worry about getting projects., but have to worry about turning clients down.

go freelance....and dont look back.

I really want to leave my full time, but also want to make sure that I'm doing the right thing, that's why I'm looking for outside opinions.
If I move to NC, I want to end up in Wilmington or Jacksonville. Somewhere near the coast, but a decent size city where i could find work. My grandfather lives in Myrtle Beach and said I could hang out with him 'til i got work and a place to stay. I have about $2,000 saved for the move so far.

I can give you advice on NC.
Wilimington is cool.
Jacksonville is a military town, aka shithole.

leave the nest dude, or else you'll still be saying the same stuff to us now this time next year. You'll feel a whole lot better for it trust me. If you're focused and smart enough, you'll never have any problems as a freelancer. Good luck.

Wilmington, NC is nice, but you might get a bit bored.
