I posted a site crit yesterday and to my surprise I had 3 responses all saying that the site was way to processer heavy and needed to load faster. Pretty common mistake when the focus is on design instead of functionality. Anyway, I thought I was doing it right. I am using xml driven photo galleries, text boxes, loading external swfs when needed etc.
Any help, ideas, would be great.

if you're doing flash you need to use both sides of the brain...
creative and logic.
That's why the people who critiqued immediatly mentioned the technical flaws... design doesn't mean shit in flash if it's not efficient.

lol buddy nice site but people in this comm just wanna uber bitch they dont wanna actually do hard work :P

def not too processor intensive. there's really not much going on with the flash at all anyway...
i mean, it's not even churning anything on my processor.
i'd worry more about the design...

loads fine for me. doesn't seem processor heavy.

Thats what i don't get. It is pretty lean so far. I have noticed a difference when I hop from the G5 to the powerbook but it runs even better on a pc.

it is processor intensive... if flash pushes the processor past 15-20% on it's own w/no other software running.. then your script is pushing it...
... at least that's how I've been trained to deal with flash...
... as for the design - it's very dated in my opinion. Circa '99. The font feels like something off of a rave flyer from 5 years ago... and the animation is pretty weak. It's not very fluid ... it just feels tweened.

Didn't have much choice on the font it's the current logo. I do agree that the animation feels tweened because it is. I thought that overall it was pretty unique approach to a site,

works fine for me. the designs good. im sure there are lots of peeps who could do better (they'll tell you about it...) and i'm damn sure there are millions of peeps who would do it worse.
solve the brief and work well for target audience - check. done.
constructive crit from anonymous names seems a tad odd. good when it's actually constructive but it seems mainly a chance for knobs to give their 'holier than thou' speech. in the immortal words of socrates "fuck em all".

Thanks for the feedback. I was just looking for the insightful time saving tip I usually get from my NT support group. I Thought I was doing something wrong and hoped someone would reconize my mistakes. I am not the best Action scripter.

Transparent window mode can be a bit unpredictable and jagged with tweens..grab tween.as at http://niko.informatif.org/flash… its far less strain on less than great machines and its some neat math, too..
Design-wise I think it works, but make the central inverted silhouette asymmeric rather than a flip. Nice.

Thanks! that is just the info I am looking for.
