There has never been a more fitting time for Chomsky's writings...
He writes on a lot of topics but a general underlying premise in a lot of his writings is that media in the US is used as a sort of mind control over "excesses of democracy" such as we saw in 60s and 70s anti-vietnam protests.
The general premises make too much sense and are all backed with painstakingly large number of sources and references to articles.
Basically, because media is not publicly owned, they are basically selling YOU (the viewer), to THEM (the advertiser) and will most naturally and not always consciously show you what will sell instead of what is objective.
Not that hard to believe when the most watched news in America is Fox news, and that 51% of Americans are, well...

you left out "or rumpled academic". linguist, he is not.. his speaches are the most sloppy and disheveled presentations ive ever seen.after watching several hours of him, i still cant make out his program.
