find out more about the job, sometimes the better jobs pay less.
it might be worth your while to take the job on for future career prospects, job satisfaction etc.
You can live in london on £30k...

Yeah get gordon brown in! Still no one can afford to ever buy a house for the first time, unless daddy helps
- Chimp0
Yeah Soda is right. It does pay off to work for low pay for a while. I worked for 12k in my first job in london. It help me get a decent portfolio

Chimp, you're not wrong there mate. 6 times earnings now, whereas it was just over 3 times earnings before these cunts came to power.
Nice bit of socialism that, eh?
When you say get Gordon Brown in, do you mean in the assassin's sight?
- Chimp0
I would prefer Brown to Blair, but thats like saying i would prefer Tb to the plauge
- shotoshi0
I guess I do too as he seems to still have some socialist values (I think!)
Anyway, don't work in London unless you have to (or are young, dumb and fulla cum)

Well LND is still one of the best cities in the world as far as I know. I would want to work for a couple of days a week besides my study (same as I do now). So I am just asking around if that's a possibility in LND. Also finding a decent apt. in a decent neighbourhood will be hard so I probably have to reevaluate the whole thing again.
But what you're saying I have been hearing from lots of Brits (esp. Londoners). Though the same applies to almost every other EU country these days. Even Spain is changing its siesta culture.

there can be good perks with a half decent company, luckliy i have BUPA (private healthcare) with work. i recently broke my leg and had to have an operation (NHS) over xmas, the difference between the NHS and the BUPA aftercare and consultation is amazing. this would cost about £1.5-2k normally.

Also. Most london company put you on a fixed contract. So when you do overtime you do not get payed for it. And you will do over time, and lots of it.

freelance is always an option chaps, it's a busy market out there - just got to be brave enough and dive in.

Sorry! I haven't read all the posts beacuse the PVN is too sloooooooow...
Seems like a really poor deal to me. Makes you think really, tube drivers go on strike and complain about stress etc stc. They're all on about 30K.
Look for a decent job out of the capital, that's my thinking. Decent job, decent salary and about 5 mins commute!

I've already got a job btw - just was shocked at the low wage above! smellvetica - sounds nasty about the leg - what happened?

Funny thinh money. Every time I get a pay hike I presume my standard of living will go up but still always seem to be living about 10% over my means.
- smellvetica0
mrming - just mailed ya

Smellvetica, how much is BUPA?
Makes you wonder what this lot are doing with our tax money as the NHS is a shambles
- smellvetica0

With pay awards still hovering at around the 3 percent mark, many could
be wondering if their current salary is keeping pace with the national
average for their job. With this in mind, the TUC have created a new
online pay comparison website so that workers can check their salary
against others doing the same job. Read more in the article below.A new survey has revealed the emergence of the Me Generation of
workers who are more demanding and less loyal than ever before. The
report s author, has warned that in a candidate-driven market,
employees need for greater flexibility and a more democratic working
culture should not be ignored by employers. Read more below.
