I concede that beaches are not the reason people stay on the east coast.
But NYC's got more stuff to do per square foot than any place on earth.

Oh, and speaking of pros of California. I assume there are few cockroaches there.
In the apartment I just moved out of, I saw maybe 19 cockroaches in a year's time. 90% were dead on arrival. But I went back this Sunday to spackle so I get my security deposit back, and in the week that I moved out, the place somehow became infested...but all dead! 3 in the kitchen, 2 in the bedroom, 5 in the livingroom, and about 100 in the fucking bathtub (when I was living there I never saw any in the bathroom at all!!!). I am going to go back and document this becuase it's repulsive.

um adam i hate to tell you this but they died cuz u werent there anymore so they couldnt eat all your stuff
- dippy0
hey adam, where is this roachy apartment you speak of? So I'll know to steer clear when I move again.
- adamfinger0
Actually, that's not necessarily true. We cooked once in a bluemoon and it's more likely due to the fact that just two days prior the building did a big extermination and because we weren't there, our place wasn't done. I assume all the bugs came there and died.

Pelham Parkway section of the Bronx. I assume you won't be moving there. I'm still in the Bronx, just a much nicer, cleaner neighborhood. And we have a house apartment that is devoid of filthy neighbors (or at least ones close enough to bring bugs our way).

Nah, I'm never leaving Manhattan. Which pretty much guarantees that I'll be poor for the rest of my life. =)
My last apartment in Jersey had roaches AND rats. Go figure.

jezus! where dippy?

in New Brunswick (central Jersey). Basically, the building was on the site of this gi-normous construction project, so the city was just waiting for me and my roommate to move out before they knocked the whole thing down. But yeah, there was this rat in the kitchen, and my roommate killed it in the bathtub one night with a broomstick while I was asleep. I didn't hear a thing.

FUCK THAT!!! lol

i know sacramento's got plenty of roaches... when you walk down the streets the junk in the gutters sound like maracas.
i'd like to visit nyc again... i haven't been since the yankees sucked.

i've lived in california for 25 years and never been to downtown LA.

I think nyc has that edgy creative vibe, it's raw, hard and aggressive.
plus, you can go bar hopping without driving. i have love and hate relationship with this city but as long as i get out of the city once a month, i am fine.oh, and i've seen only one roach in the past 3yrs of living in this building.

if i ever saw a roach in my house i would seriously flip out. i hate bugs... especially big, fat, ugly bugs.

The only reason we have roaches in Vegas is from all you filthy coasters moving inland to our arid, toasty paradise.
- Gorbie0
as far as comparing goes...
you can't compare a city to a state that spans a whole coast, contains almost every natural environment possible, and has everything a human could ever need of a society.

yeah, thats the thing about Cali thats sort of wild... there's literally EVERYTHING you want here. except culture. no culture here. :)
