just setting up my new PC...XP Pro
Anyone recommend best freebie malware, spyware, etc protection?
Microsoft has a beta out, but some peeps did not rate it

- kerio firewall + routers firewall
- avast antivir (excellent!)
- no IE brwosing
- no shady websites (xxx etc)
- no p2pworks fine.

im using symatec antivirus and a router firewall.
i just need something reliable to eliminate browser changes being forced on me, pop ups, etc.
i use firefox mainly but use IE to check out how websites behave

i got ad-aware up and running now.
would you believe it found 7 dangerous cookies and this puter has only been working for a few hours.

i got spybot now and that found 9 rogue files also.
god this amd64 3400 with 1.5 gig ram and a gigerbit ethernet card goes like shit off the shovel

that microsoft adware app is really good, they just bought the company, it used to be called Giant. it finds things the others you have don't.

webroot prevents all the malware...its more proactive when things try to make changes to your computer...it also checks your comp on bootup for changes to startup progs.
adaware is good to use after you have already installed some dirt and need to get rid of it.
