no practical advice, but...
johnstown's between philly and san fran. stop for a beer. do that with every member of nt between there and there and you're in fine shape.

my ex-roommate moved from san fran to pittsburgh last year - he basically sold everything including furniture and packed his VW golf with his clothing, computers, books and other personal stuff.
he got furniture and stuff once he arrived at pittsburgh.
the only thing that was inconvenient to him was the fact that he had to unload everything from his car and pack em up every time he made a stop (to avoid theft and breakin).
if your car has enough power, you can rent one of these which seems to be more secure:

i moved from one side of Canada to the other.
i sold as much as i could before and then packed as much as i could into my VW Golf and hit the road.
pretty straight forward.

dide he get pulled over like 8 times in 2 days and get shakin down by the cops for his weed stash?
that part of the trip really sucked.

...don't think that happened to him although i'm not sure if cops harrassed him about a large hookah sitting in the trunk of his car.

haha... nice, its funny cuz all those times i got pulled over it happened in one Province... once i got past that shit hole i didn't even get a second look from the cops.
i think the 5 snowboard decks i had on the roof rack of my car tipped them off.

dont remind me of texas, please. i almost went to the hootskow there. i think my only saving grace was when he asked to search the car i said "do what you gotta do" he let me go but not before giving me 2 tickets that totalled 550 bucks.
