Do you NTers think that downloading movies is different/worse compared to downloading music? Or vice-verse? Or do you think it's about the same?
Just wondering.

when I say downloading, I mean illegally.

I'm getting sick of this substitution of 'downloading' for 'illegally downloading'. Confuses the non-tech-literate.
But then the word 'hacking' has already been bastardized to mean somthing bad in most peoples minds...
- ribit0
nicely added while I'm writing my rant ;)
- Jaline0
yeah, exactly. the same thing happened with the word 'hacking'

i never downloaded any movies, it's a waste of time imho. all movies should be seen in the theaters like they were made for

i don't understand why people can say they saw this kickass awesome movie they just downloaded, when it's shit quality and seen on a 15" screen..

I actually don't mind watching something on a little computer screen. Yes, the experience is different from watching in theatres or on a tv, but the quality isn't horrible. If you're watching something with your friends, however, a computer screen is really crappy.

*has 20" monitor with 420watt dolby 4.1 and wont watch anything other that a dvd ripi get the movie feel
not all of us stare at "marketed to the college crowd" powerbooks all day
some of us have workstations
*can't stop watching the incredibles

it's true. I go to university and almost every single student only watches movies on their laptops/computers. no one actually goes to the theatres anymore. same goes for tv. even if they could watch the episode that evening, they sometimes download it anyway to watch it later instead.

*ordered digital cable just to record shows and drag and drop to hard drive

well i take it a step further.. the downloading is not illegal at all. Using it (viewing and storing it) is illegal if you have not paid for it and distributing it without license is criminal..
blahblah
anyway......
anyone knows some great torrents??
;P

------------What the heck does that means?
You wont download movies because you think it is a waste of time but it is ok to download illegal music?
Something is wrong here.

I dont know how poorly paid designer are nowadays.. but renting a movie is only 5$. Is it really worth downloading for a week (or whatever time it takes), use up HD space and play it on tiny screens... for 5$?
- Jaline0
it takes 2 hours for some ppl.

an extra few gig downloading on ISP's is pretty pricey these days too..
- Jaline0
can't you just get the unlimited downloading thing?
