The "Find another tool to use as a weapon" arguement is STILL weak. A gun is designed to kill. There's no denying it. It's very nature is the ability to kill someone.

well it was a cop. and only some cops here are allowed to take their guns home. explains it all. i have been thinking if he'd done it with a knife if he didn't have access to a gun, or that he just didn't do this at all..

version3, nice revolver. Is that a Colt SingleActionArmy?
- vburo0
justjeff, why do you own guns?
- vburo0
oh wait, just checked your profile, you are from 2advanced..
carry on.

Also, humans are irresponsible, irrational, emotional creatures. Government is neccessary in matters of handing out killing machines. There is no amount of idealism you can profess that can change anyone's mind in the face of so much irresponsible and sad behavior by humans, aided by guns. So to that, I say more intervention is needed.

(Apr 16 05, 22:11)Very well said, Fate.
it must also be added that most other 'tools' require a LOT more effort and guts (and power) to use then a gun.
If the man was very emotional about it (and he must be cuz he shot himself afterwards) a gun was the most easy certain way of killing his own wife and kids. there is a huge difference in hitting your child on the head with a baseball bat (not too mention the wife could have tried to fight that) then shooting them through the heads or bodies..
the comparison you made isn't very strong.
people are unpredictable creatures, give them killing machines and they will use it at one point.
guns should be banned. period.
(and i am glad they are super-illegal here for that matter..)

Thanks vburo. I agree with all of the points you made, except for banning guns. For reasons of personal protection to empowerment. In a paranoid sort of way, I want the government to have its citizens armed. If any real shit hit the fan...well, let's just say when the Government fears the people, you have Liberty, when the people fear the Government, Tyranny.

Here's a good link you should have got to first to support your arguement Jeff. :p
- vburo0
well that may be for the States, i think the gap between govt and people is so much larger then here.
i am happy with the gun restrictions we have here.. would never feel safe or want to have kids in an environment where everybody has guns lying around..
so i stick to what i said:
ban guns.
- vburo0
..and paranoia is really the worst reason to make guns legal.. omg.

fate-
Actually its a Dakota Model which is a remake of the original 1873 revolver.
- fate_redux0
nice version3, but I would have opted for a longer barrell. It's a beautiful gun.
I'd love to own a SAA or a Desert Eagle. Those are both my wish-list weapons.
- version30
why dont we just educate people about safety instead of ban them
i persoanlly believe in gun ownership [as you can tell]
if i wanted to kill someone the last thing i would think of is the gun, i'd use my bare hands if i had too, just to prove it to myself
getting the gun out, loading it and actually aiming it at someone is a little too premeditated for me. by the time i did all that i would be dead or have had the time to realize i was about to make a big mistake
my father on the other hand would shoot someone that broke into his house [so he says]
- vburo0
no gun is beautiful ya cunts.
btw. v3 i remember why i ignored you in the first place.
i am out, you go stare at each other metal penis compensations.
later!
- version30
short barrells all the way imo unless its a shotgun, which i also have [a swat issue mossberg pump]
the DE is what my pops wants, maybe he'll get it for his birthday, it's too big though
even the 9mm is too big for my hand, the revolver fits nicer in my hand, but the nickel with the pearl handles is just so pretty :)
- version30
vburo has problems

I live in a city with 1.6 million inhabitants and a murderrate of 13 (2003).
I don't even want to know how this would change if everybody would get they feeling that they need a gun in their home. Saying that making guns easily accessible is a n understatment. Of course I can't really commend on the current US Situation since I don't live there, but people seem to be pretty fond of their guns there.
For example... why does Jeff need 4 different guns to protect himself ?

people.
gun ban workz.
believe.
there are such places.
look over the fence.
or your cocks will shrink to microscopic levels.
- fate_redux0
Anarchitect, it's just not a possibility in the United States. The people that champion the 2nd ammendment can be the craziest ones at time. So you can't just do away with guns for fear of retaliation.
You just make guns a hell of a lot harder to attain.
