What is your comment after viewing the video... ? I found the console is kind of ... bigger than expected. what they mentioned, was the machine only 3 dvd cases thick and slightly longer than Playstation 2. It is cool design (helmet).. but wonder how much will it cost!!

kinda freaks me out that i just watched that movie in quicktime
is that something new?
- Hym0
oh no not this one again
it's just a fan made hoaxbadly made, poor design, full of geek scifi wet dreams that won't even make sense in a decade from now
and darn mario never looked that bad, plumbers should be fat

100% grade A bull plop. 10 seconds into it I couldn't even pretend it was real.

holy shit my lil bro is gonna fucking love it..
i hope they officially take over the gaming world again

Nintnedo needs to find a happy medium between Shigeru Miyamoto and something slightly more mature and donw-to-earth, and advanced.
I've always been a fan of the Mario design ethic but it seems to dominate everything Nintendo does. I wish they could adopt more of an edge like Play Station seems to.
Miyamoto originally saved a dying Nintendo, I just hope he doesn't kill it as well.

someone wasted a lot of time on that one...
nintendo without a doubt produce the most dynamic and innovative games, it just a shame they all have to be so kiddie.

it's really painful to see how people (at least in the US) have no regard for Nintendo's innovation. The DS's two-screen design has potential for some really interesting games, yet, it was completely trumped by the PSP, possibly presicely because of its design.
- imakedesign0
agreed.. this is true with games too. the ps2 pretty much rehatches the same games over and over again
- randoman0
Yeah but that video is obvioously not a product of nintendo. Prolly a kid who wants to work for nintendo.
The design of the DS is innovative... maybe once tsome games come out that make use of the dual screen it will be appreciated more. Nintendo can't expect people to love it out of the box when there's really no significan't use for it yet.
As a communication device, it really has a potential to shine and more so than PSP. If the bottom portion can be used as a keyboard, the unit can function like a mini-laptop - would make a great portable PDA for email and web browsing, oter communications. in addition to games device. This is where I feel they can leverage themselves over the PSP.

ha ha
that's ridiculous, randoman
you're saying that if that hideous outdated plastic hamburger of a toy ds can magically come up with features the psp already has it will be better than the psp?
it will never happen
you're comparing an ipod to a transistor radio here
- benfal990
who want my PSP?
i regret so much, why do i bought that!
- scarabin0
well you did buy just one shit game
- randoman0
scarabin... maybe I didn't explain enough-
What I was trying to say is that the input method on the DS should be able to trump that of the PSP.
It has touch screen, and the bottom screen can be used fo different types of input. Theres no reason why they cant and wont map a keyboard to it.
With these features, the DS is poised to be a much better tool for uses where input is concerned (chat, blog, browse internet, draw or doodle, etc.) This is cntrol that the psp lacks.
Sure you can get online with a browser on a PSP but then what? Entering text will be like entering a highscore on a the end of a game... a slow and ardious task.
a PSP design that incorporated a clamshell whereas the bottom sports a simple keyboard when opened is one solution that the PSP could possible sport as an addon - but that remains to be seen.
- scarabin0
you haven't seen the psp keyboard?
- scarabin0
they have clamshell ones like you suggested, one that also just flips out at the touch of a button, and it also has the support for any other kind of usb keyboard you want to attach
- randoman0
Id didn't know about that.. i check it our but it looks a little awkward to handle or hold the unit and type.
I'd have to try out the two units in person to determine which is best fitted... right now it looks like the DS though.
Anyone want to send me a DS and PSP to test?
- Bahiatronic0
We all will find out tomorrow E3 Press Conference. (Should be broadcast in Gamespot.com)

I think each has a strenght and weakness...
PSP, after having seen sample videos, looks like it's games a very superior to DS, screen looks nicer (and bigger) controls are tight also. As a handheld game device it is really perfect where the DS looks to be somewhat weaker. The dual screen for games doesnt appeal to me at all. It's like Nintendo tried to rehash the design of those old flip-top cheap game/watch LCD games it used to peddle back before consoles became it's cornerstone.
But then for an internet/communications device, DS looks better to me. The keyboard on the PSP doesnt look right.. it's looks like it would be a pain in the ass to use but then I would have to try one out before saying anything.
There are alternatives to both of these also... mainly the GamePark32 (GP32) , Tapwave Zodiac, and Gizmodo. The latter two are PDA/game device hybrids. These can run emulators and play hundreds of MAME ROM's, atari,apple,pc,c64/128 emulators as well as games designed for the systems. (plus divX, mp3, etc and in some cases Linux environment).
- benfal990
watchout wrist injury with the psp...
controls are too much on the edge.
- randoman0
The Japanese are so advanced with this stuff... they probably have all these secret handheld game devices that we dnt know about.
I hear that the new generation of children are being innoculated with CPU's so that when they grow up they wont have to carry these clunky devices around, rather they can just play the games in their head. not fair.
