Any designers had LASIK eye surgery? Know a few people who have (with good results), but none are picky designers like myself.
Good/bad experience?

i'd be interested too
i wanted to someday, but only when it becomes sorta more foolproof and stuff :-/

Am I the only design dork wearing glasses?

i love my glasses, it makes me look like a designer

i wear contacts.
i think about lasik, than i say fuck it.
my right eye is +1.25 and my left eye is -.50, it's quite a fucking bitch, and i still say fuck it.

its a nice option, but i still don't trust it...
Did any one see the episode of The Simpsons when Homer gets Lasik?
His eyes started to crust up like crazy afterwards....gross
- Neuarmy0
i would love to, but without my eyeballs, what the hell would i do?!
for now, it's contacts.

my brother got it but he is not a designer, he says colors are bit off sometimes and he cant see too well at nite

My boss just had his lasik f***ed up. One eye is now screwey, but supposedly they fixed it this afternoon. Glasses aren't so bad, except when your swimmin'. Also I don't have an extra 4k laying around. Sure...you can find people advertising low cost surgery...but these are your eyes folks...yer bread and butter...

my AD had it done and she loves it, no problems.

I go crazy everytime there is a suposedly "imperceptible" shift in my prescription. The trouble with lasik is I can't easily pop my eyes out and tell em to fix it to my liking.
Whats more important to you: looking cool or making cool looking things?
Besides you can get some slick ass frames these days if you cough up a bit for em.

had it about 5 years ago and it was the best thing i've ever done. i don't mean to sound like an advertisement, but it totally changed my life.
the only downside is that at night i see these white halo thingys around lights (and i'm not on drugs!)

i wear glasses. have been considering lasik. My husband, who's a coder, had it and says it's one of the best things he's ever done.

I like my contacts. They're like a futuristic second-skin for my eyeballs. It's like living a futuristic dream.

I had it about 3 years ago. I love being able to wake up in the morning and see the clock clearly without glasses.
With that said...
The surgery is a little creepy. Because of that I dont really recommned it to anyone, I just tell them I didnt go blind or anything.
As far as seeing color differently etc...my vision is no different in that regard..as far as I can tell.
Even with positive results...i prob wouldnt do it again. Thats just me.

Funny story - I once criticized the Lasik site done by 2A on Flashkit because it made no sense to me.
I asked, "Why would you create a site with 8pt blurry fonts in Flash and a small navigation for people who obviously have eye problems?
A certain someone at 2A demanded I make a public apology! In the end I learned that the site was what the client wanted, but still, I figured the whole thing was absolutely moronic if even the Lasik people wanted some site out of the future with tiny hard to read fonts...
They should have done the whole site with H1 tags for Chrissakes!

Yeah, this thread has pretty much tracked my own thoughts: would love no eyewear, can't imagine life with f**ked up eyes. Even small things with my lenses bug me.
Still thinking about it though...
As for cool glasses alternative: Starck P0005s is probably where I'm heading....

hahahhaaa, how sad that they demanded an apology.
Studio A: You owe us an apology just for hiring us!

if you're gonna do it, do it as soon as you're able. my husband has enjoyed it for a few years (like 3 i think) but now age is starting to require him to use reading glasses most of the time. He can still see his monitor perfectly (the way he says it makes me think they adjusted his eyeballs for excessive monitor use) but to read, which we both do an awful lot, he has to wear reading glasses now.

from what i've heard the Corneal Refractive Therapy is a nice alternative to LASIK.
Wearing a "contact retainer" at night to temporarily correct the shape of your eye during the day
