I'm doing a large banner 3 metres by 2 metres and the client has given me an image that they want over the whole banner. The image is a digital camera shot, a jpeg only 40cm wide at 150dpi.
So, I tell them that the image is too small to enlarge for the banner. They respond by saying they will send the jpeg to a photo imaging studio to enlarge it to the correct resolution.
Is this possible? Is there a service that can do this? I'm going to be pretty dark if all they do is enlarge it in photoshop.
Anyone had any experience with a service like this?

A lot of banner printers over here (UK) require the artwork at only 25% full size to print from @ 300ppi
I sometimes use Extensis pxlSmart - it can be helpful, but at the end of the day, if the original pic is small, you are always gonna be struggling.

Oh, and remember banners are viewed at a distance of around 3-5m.
A lot of banners look a bit ropey when viewed close-up, but at the required distance they are fine.

interesting, thanks for the link stem.
Yeah the artwork is only required at 25% but this image is still way too small.
