i work on a 23 inch at work and a 12 at home and i love my 12 mainly because its way more portable than the 15s. lugging a 15 around compared to a 12 is actually a considerable difference.
other than that the 12 is fine for print and web work especially if you have access to an lcd for checking colours

if its for music, a powerbook is a better choice than a laptop pc.
I been using mine for years on live shows. EXTREMELY reliable. Unfortunatelly I can't say the same about pc's. But that is just my experience.
the 17 is too big if you are looking for portability.

I used my 12" hooked to an Apple 17" screem. Be careful.. Teh 12" pb ic MINI-DIVI whereas the 15" is full size DVI: You'll spend a hundred on the adapter so why not go for the bigger screen.
Honestly I just bought a iMac g5 until the g5 laptop comes out.... the G4 laptop was just too damn slow.

a portion out of the wall street journal:
Should people hold off buying a Mac that uses the IBM PowerPC processor, which Apple will soon abandon, and wait for the new Intel Macs?
No. If you need a new computer and the Mac was the right choice for you last week, it's still the right choice. Today's PowerPC Macs are, in my view, the best consumer computers on the market, and Apple plans to roll out additional PowerPC models this year.
Plus, all new software for the Mac will continue to run on PowerPC models for at least a few more years, the likely life of any Mac you buy now. That's because Apple has created a tool for software developers that easily creates "universal" programs capable of being run on either the PowerPC or Intel models.

Depends on what you use it for. If it will be your primary workhorse, go 15. I have a 12, but I mainly do vid work, which is why I went all out for a dual 2.5. I've grown full beards in the time it takes to render on my 12, not to mention droppped frames. If you only use it sparingly, the 12 is definitely better for traveling.

sweet...15 incher it is. I'm using my work's 15" and i love it. I was considering the 12" for cost, but I guess its a bigger sacrifice than that. This is such a terrible time to buy any laptop...but I'm in a need for one for playing live music and to be used as a graphic workhorse too. I will be doing some print related freelance from home on this as well as using it for my mobile gigs.
