install xp and then download sp2 before installing any other apps.
also, as someone else recommended, don't use Outlook.
if there is one thing i hate about MS it's their office suite!

I don't understand, what sites do you go to to get that much spyware? I'm using XP SP2 and the security center runs smoothly with Norton AV/IS. This thread inspired me to check for spyware but I doubt I will find anything, I haven't had that problem for ages! And I am also running DC++ and bittorrent and I have never run into a problem that my security system can't fix!

Oh, and you can have tabs in IE6. Unfortunately, they only come with the MSN toolbar.
I'm suspicious to anything with those three letters on it.

I think I got in to Service Pack 2 after the spyware was already in my system. I don't have alot. It's really only two that I just can't get off. Something AdAware always finds is Browser Aid and Aurora.

i think people shouldn't be stupid about computers and let themselves get hacked

yeah, but spyware or viruses may have opened up other backdoors.
backup and reinstall.
there's nothing like the feeling of a cleaned out hard drive. consider it spring cleaning for your pc.
