Anyone any idea how to make flash as part of a background in html. I want to use html over the top of the flash, but the only way i have found that will do it doesn't validate. It uses the 'embed' tag...
grr...
Cheers!

you can use a laler for your html over the top, but I'm not sure that will validate or you could try using css to embedd it. but i'm not sure that would work either

laler = layer !!

Not sure if that would validate? anyone got an idea if it would?
or any other alternative ways to do it?

Won't the flash movie always play on top regardless of the order you place them in?
- UndoUndo0
not if you use layers

it will not work across browsers

Im actually working on a similar application.
Having a div layer appear above flash....
I am still testing it, but here is my working URL

have you tried embedding with css hello-sexy?
- Hello-Sexy0
you know i have looked at it off and on a few times and never took the time to really jump into it....

have you tried having text sit on top of the flash? rather than loading an iframe?
Kinda need the text to be on top of the flash, with the flash background still visible....
- Hello-Sexy0
yea... you can do that... its actually easier...
just put the content in the div layer with a higher z-index.
- Hello-Sexy0
Give this a try...
PLEASE NOTE:
I just threw this together for you.. test and let me know how it works...

Hello-Sexy
your link works in
---------------------
win ff 1.04
win ie 6.029
win ns 7.2no luck in
-----------
win op 7.54nice work
- yurimon0
try that with pop menus... HTml ontop
- Hello-Sexy0
ill try that eventually....
but i would assume it is compliant with the same browsers that the background is.
Just a metter of hiding/showing divs instead of having it showing on the page load....

Did you try it with animation in the flash though. Cause I've had problems on rfreshing the screen.

oh, that's cause nothing works in opera... yet.
also, who gives a shit, people who use opera are used to things not working.

I would create a layer with the same width and height at the browser window, and then embed the Flash movie into that. Use JavaScript to size the layer.

Hey Hello-Sexy!
That worked a treat fella, thanks a million!!
Works with animation for me...
