So once you have found gainful employment do you stop looking or keep pumpin out resumes in search some something better?

You'll know when you start your job. I wouldn't be very happy, if I'd just employed you, to find out you were still schlepping out resumes.
You'd only really do that if you were really not happy with the job you'd just found.

Wait a few weeks or months, depending on what kind of company you work for and what kind of job you are doing.
If you're happy with your job after a certain time (weeks/months), don't send anything out (unless a great opportunity presents itself). If you're not happy with your job, feel free to send out resumes.

make sure you have more than 1 stream of income. never rely on your full time for 100% of your income.

if it's your first job, you should stick with it for a year. Chances are you will be more marketable with a year's experience under your belt. Keep doing freelance work too, so that you can build a decent size portfolio.
If you had work before, then it's ok to keep looking. Most likely you will know after a few weeks if you don't like your place.
