I recently did a freelance job for a Multimedia company, once the job was finished they said send them an invoice and they'll send me out a check.
So the next day i emailed them the invoice, this was on the 16th June, and i'm still waiting on the check to get posted.
How much longer do you think i should wait before phoning them up.
Cheers

one week is not too long. i'd wait another week before phoning.
or just drop a note to see if they got the invoice yet.

I'd phone them straight away to make sure they got it (ideally post it) and then wait no more than a month for payment.

Dont hold your breath.

i've gotten paid as much as 60 days following a job.
just like i expect them not to be a burden during the design process, i try not to make myself a pain to them about billing.
typically, i state "paid due 30 days from invoice date".

companies only pay out once or twice a month. i usually give them 15 days and then send a friendly 'just checking on the status of the payment' email.

I am freelancing for a university right now and they lost my w-9 form and noone contacted me to get another one. I called them 2 days ago to see what was going on and found out.
send me my fucking money before I come knee-cap you.

if you don't get paid within a month fuck their shit up

Man, these are horror stories: a month for payment, payment 60 day's after a job.
I'll give them until the end of the month to send the check (touch wood), if they havent' then....i'll be on there door step with Mr. Baseball bat.
Cheers

I would also submit bills by mail printed, PDf bills attached to emails can be overlooked much easier, in my experience.

i have one 'friendly' email to send out tonight, one tomorrow. 14 days after invoice.
why don't clients understand that I HAVE THEIR DOMAIN LOGIN INFORMATION!?!
only once have i had to take a site down and replace it with 'this site has been temporarily taken down pending late payment.'

That's the thing about freelance work that i hate, you've always got it in the back of your mind, if your going to get paid at the end of a job.
Fuck this, the next job i do i'm asking for half of the money up front before i even touch a keyboard.

yeah we do:
estimate
40% - 50% deposit
final payment within 30 days of project completion
We do a Net 30 (payment within 30 days) since most companies do have different AP schedules, so 30 days will always fall within an AP payment date.

i check they have young kidnapable children before opening photoshop.
- zuna0
what didnt you include terms of payment?
net 30?
hmm, you got to set them straight with terms man. unless its a huge corp, you can expect net 30 thats standard. but i have worked for the big bastards and they will push you out for net 90days. THAT is Some BS... ughh, g'luck
