since my bro hooked up his wireless router to my modem the internet got soooooo fucking slow. Assholes, stop stealing my internet! I feel like i'm on dialup rather then broadband.
Anyone knows how i can potect myself from cheap bastards cloging my bandwith?

haha they are not assholes and they ain't stealing either
you are the stupid ass on the other hand giving it away for free.
login to your router and use something like 128bit WEP, they all support that these days and takes a lot time to hack

or if you don't like encyrpting you can let the router only handle requests from certain MAC addresses or with fixed IP's
really there are multiple ways to do it

ok, ok man slow down. 1. I'm on Pc so you gotta talk slow. 2. How do i do whatever it is you tell me to do?
- Hym0
ok the easy way
you go to google, type in the brand and type of your router and download the manual
read that

go with WEP encryption
it's in the manual for your router
very easy to set up if you follow the guide step by step.

WEP and/or MAC locking would do it.
On the other hand, you can download Ethereal, and at least entertain yourself with their traffic.

Change your SSID (probably linksys) and then stop broadcasting it.

started reading the manual -- damn this stuff is way over the head. Will unscrewing the antena from the back of the router help/solve the problem????

yeah wireless went crazy my airport picks up five diff'rent networks around here...

OK pr...just wondering:
How do you know someone is stealing your bandwidth? You have a bunch of peeps sitting in your front yard with laptops?
- tkmeister0
if people are stealing, it'll show up in admin page of your router so you'll know.
i can detect 5-6 wireless network from my apartment. probably i don't even need my own.

Was that unscrewing the attena comment for real?
Hhahahahahha

if its an open network it isn't stealing, its just 'using'.
If I have an open wireless network and I want people to use it (which I have done), I'd be disappointed if people felt they shouldn't because it might be 'stealing'
