Hi guys. I'm a Swiss Art Director and i would like to move to USA (NYor Miami) and try a new working experience. Unfortunately i don't have the green card and i don't have any info about the lifestyle (salary, rents, insurance, ...). It is today the right moment to try to move there? The agencies are open to assume European people? Any info will help me a lot! Thank's.

WTF? Why would want to leave such a kick-ass place?

Why do you wanna move here? I think where your at is def. alot better living and design wise.
NYC and Miami are 2 completely different places. I recommend going to Craigslist.org and scope out the apt. pricing and also job listings

Miami is getting more and more pricey these days, and New York well their rent is legendary. New York design is fierce competition and entrenched....Miami is becoming more like that, but when you live on the beach it's tough to get too crazy. If you come to Florida the supermodels welcome you.

I've been thinking on moving back to the states to, I'm almost done with school and trying to sort out what I want to do...
So good luck!
ps: craiglist is a pretty good website..

hey moveinspace i like that statement on your site...is that from Jenners from the Paul & Young Ron show?

you can work in the USA. All depends on how good you are. Bottomline, if you can perform and they can afford you they'll take you, even if they pay you under the table

the quote is a reference to what we do as people and as designers. It also is a reference to the work we do. Will be updating by the end of the summer and all will become clearer grasshopper

He's from Lugano. I doubt money is going to be an issue.
With that said, I can't believe how you want to move from the most beautiful spot on earth.

sometimes people want to move to try something new. he may not want to live here forever but just try something new.
i reccoment beef up your bank account, then when you move to new york you won't have any problems.

Unfortunately most of the money in our banks don't come from swiss people ... :-)
I see many here asking why i want to change .. well. I spent the last 32 years here. Switzerland is a beautiful country with beautiful and smart people, but sometimes i feel like living in a box. The world is big and life is short. So now that i'm 32, i found that i need new experiences, i want to meet new people, discover new places. In late 90's i had the opportunity to move, but the love kept me here. I know 3 languages, i'm single, i'm not reach (as someone think ..), i think that i'm good in my job. Why don't try? Maybe after 3 weeks i will come back home to my mom! :-))))
I also considered Canada and New Zealand, countries that seems more "Swiss style" ... but i love NY and that will be my first choice.

see, i told you! new york is the best city in the world!
(my opinion)

I think about trying another country as well.

it's just about putting yourself in a different environment for a period of time, it gives you a different perspective
