Of course cheap gas is a hell of a lot less important than human life , but I thought this quote from the New Orleans mayor (on the coming hurricane) was interesting.
"The real issue - that I don't think the nation is paying attention to - is that through the city of New Orleans, through the Gulf of Mexico, we probably deal with almost a third of the nation's domestic oil that is produced. And that will most likely be shut down."

yeah but if i'm not mistaken, the measurement of a gallon in the uk is actually more than that of a gallon in the us?

due to taxes and other fators gas is much more expensive in europe. ...a likely benefit in the long run. ...made them less dependent on the automobile.

Hastening of the petrocollapse.
- mitee_0
so basically your gas IS cheaper, but your government is screwing you on taxes.
- pavlovs_dog0
...we'll see whos screwed when it costs $7 a gallon to drive from McMansion>Work>Walmart>Applebees...
- nuggler0
i think most of us here will be screwed. Advertising takes a hit during economic downturns.

Not to be a jerk, but I have news for you dudes, in other places of the world it's even more expensive. Didn't we have this talk about coffee, donuts, McD's, etc. vs. gasoline. Tonight, my Latvian friend told me that it's nearly $8.50 US per and that his dad spent nearly $80 to fill his tank.
*shines up BS in Geologic Science
who's hiring suckaz!?!?
;)

Yeah i used to live in Europe and things are only just now in the US getting to the point it was in europe years ago. We've got nothing to bitch about.
