..any help would be much appreciated.
My girlfriend is studying in California and I'm a freelance multimedia designer living in london. One of my clients has said that they would be happy for me to continue working for them on a contract basis if I went to live in LA. Has anyone here ever done this? What are the visa / tax / general implications of this? I know its hard to get normal working visas for America without a job and sponsorship etc and I'm wondering if my situation would make any difference to the application process
?
Thanks

you could swing it and go out on a holiday visa (if you are being paid in the UK still) but will probably have to leave the US every 90 days to renew your holiday visa.
It can get a little shaddy after a few goes, but I think that's your best bet?
Is your bird american?
If that's the case you could do 'a Jevad' and marry her and all your problems will be gone!

yeah Soda, it's definitely an option but not ideal really . . . thanks.

you can get them to sponsor you for full time work. have you asked if that is possible? it will be a lot easier to get a visa if they helped you apply.

oi curtis!!
hows it hangin son
bit of a predicament you are in.
as it's contract work - you are stuffed for them offering to support a working visa.
really - and legally speaking - there's not much you can do. You can work from london for clients in the states - but not go to the states and work for them there...if you get me.
fuckin batty innit
contact the US embassy in london and talk to them - they would know exactly where you stand
good luck me old mukka

ello Jevad! Hope all is well mate.
thanks for the advice everyone. yeah, it's a bit of a mad situation really . . . I know getting a visa is a nightmare, but if I can somehow manage to swap my bedroom in brixton for a beachside apartment in California doing the same work . . . mental. Sounds like its not gonna happen though. Maybe I should just go for 3 months on a holiday visa and look for work when I got there?
