iTunes Hotkeys - Windows

Hey guys, I recently just started using iTunes for my music playing needs and am generally impressed apart from the fact that unlike Winamp it doesn't support hotkeys natively.
I have installed a number of hotkey apps for iTunes that seem to work fine except when I try to assign the keys on my keyboard that are there specifically for music functions. i.e. Play / Pause, Stop, Next / Previous buttons
Any ideas?

Just to clarify, the applications all work, except when I try to bind them to "special" keys like the Play / Pause on on my keyboard.

i may be confused but isn't that a driver thing for your keyboard then? sorry, i may be way off but my keyboard has those keys and seems to work fine with itunes.

Sorry, to clarify further, my Play / Pause buttons work when iTunes is focused and did do even before I installed any of these hotkeys applications. I guess what I am looking for is a global hotkey application that works with my keyboard's special function keys.

ethios, you mean that you'd like to use keys to control itunes, even when itunes isn't the program this is currently being used, ie. it's playing in the background?
if that is the case, that's what i'm looking for too, will butler let me do that?

anzelina, I'm using a PC so I'm not sure what you will need. I found an application called iTunesControl in which you can assign key combos like WIN + P to the Play / Pause functions, the trouble I'm having is that I cannot seem to bind the special function keys on my keyboard.

anzelina. yeah butler will do that...assuming you or on a mac

I hope they are planning a feature like this for a future version, or I'm going back to Winamp ;o

I'm impressed with how often it will freeze up my ipod

Im pretty pissed with it, ironically when iTunes asked me if I would like it to "organise my music collection" , it totally fucked it up so meh
