youre well on your way to being an art director
copying others work and wanting to take credit for it

- MrDinky0

- squire2250
thanks vers3.
Mr.Dinky, can you help me out? I just need to know what one looks like....have some mercy on the student!!
- MrDinky0
do you have ms project?
- squire2250
no.
- MrDinky0
ah ok.
sorry

maybe you should take a creative directors class and have the art directors class do all your work.
- LouSeffer0
i think your question has everything to do with marketing and nothing to do with art direction.
- LouSeffer0
maybe your professor should collab with the business college on this one. there is a reason we wear different hats
- MrDinky0
an AD or CD who doesnt understand budget can not do their job effectively.
a good creative will always consider time and materal for what they could produce.
- LouSeffer0
hey art dude, here's 300k
make with the campaign!
omg, that's awesome

true. my professor gave one lecture on budget, but that was just how to read the newspaper advert guidelines. i'll just wing it, and let the teacher correct me for my faux pas. i know i have to consider time and material, but my other classes are more important...it's rough here on NT for a student.

(Oct 25 05, 05:02)ha. while i feel your frustration squire, you have to admit what you are asking for is pretty, um..... "silly." you are asking for Dinky to pretty much give you something he has used professionally for you to "copy for your class." i am not trying to be a stiff one here, but you gotta realize there is a line.
i am sure you mean only the best but it is just a bit funny to hear it is that vein. good luck on the project. if i were in school again for this "industry", i would have definitly paid much more attention to the standard or whatever of how to draft budgets/project estimates- it is half my job as an AD.

if you can get a copy of the GAG handbook that should get you started on what you need.
If you are looking for an RFP then you can find those online but if you are looking for an actual bid that might be a little harder to find.

What do you actually need for this project? A breakdown of a certain total for talent, production, media etc?
There must be parameters for the assignment right? If it's a mock print campaign, you need to break it down into creative development, photography, talent (if necessary), retouching/production art, and the big chuck will go to the actual media placement.
If it's TV, then there's the whole line up of items to budget there as well.
Tell us the details and maybe we can help you out.

squire,
i just wanted to follow up with my last post. i really do wish you luck on the project. i think it is very generous of Dinky to offer up a campaign budget like that. i did not mean to make it sound like you were ungrateful. part of the process though is learning how to improperly construct a budget to be able to clearly see what makes a good one.
good luck.
