to get off of my highhorse for a moment, there should be a cocktail named after this guy.
The Bill Perkins
1 oz. Southern Comfort
1 oz. Drambuie
1 oz. pure white cream
1 teaspoon tabasco

a fine example of the NT community at its lowest.

I agree with you two in some ways - while it's commendable that Ted Bell would come here and share his thoughts on the matter and stick up for himself in many ways, it's also very embarassing that he would have to at all.
Yah, Bill Perkins most likely has some big problems that he can hopefully solve, but the gang mentality of telling him off and calling his clients is indeed a low point in the history of the PVN.
Because look who now has to deal with the mess more than anyone: Mr. Bell.
- jox0
Did anybody actually *call* a client, I thought that was just talk.

mob rules eh...

Hang on a minute I don't think the whole internet community evolves around NT, yeah this a public lynching on one small site in the vast world of the Interweb, so don't be all over dramatic, I understand that Bill Perkins has got some serious demons that he has to deal with and poor old Ted Bell has to by the sounds of it pick up the pieces, but me thinks a few people are over dramatising a situation that isn't really that bad, I mean no one has died as a result of all this (well maybe Bill Perkins' career) but fuck it forget it move along.
*note to self
alcohol and Newstoday is not the best kind equation

(Nov 12 05, 13:13)"notice I said "NT" uncle_helv... and even then, its just a select few of whom I would expect this type of behaviour from.

ooh, and one last thing to mr. oneburn... you do realize that defamation of character is grounds for litagation don't you?
regardless of emails or messages you may have recieved this doesn't give you the right to drag this person down in a public forum.
you should have dealt with this privately and with the people involved... if he threatened you then you should notify the authorities, if they won't do anything then its best to just drop it.
- jox0
Hold on just a second now - I think he dragged himself down pretty nicely without NT involvement and oneburn didn't parade this thing in the PVN either. I don't have an ounce of compassion for this guy, I am just sorry that Ted went down with him.
I agree with helv, I doubt NTers made all the damage, and so what if we did. Seriously, come on. Do you think he deserves a second chance? I'm pretty sure anyone on this board would have mentioned it here if it happened to us.

In a business partnership, through success or failure, both partners are to be held equally accountable. If you partner with an alcoholic, expect situations like this to arise. So while I had two unproductive days at work last week, and I spent a few nights in my place with all the lights off, and I've got to spend my morning on monday getting a restraining order, Ted has had to clean up a bomb that has been ticking well before I was dragged into it. There's shrapnel everywhere.
uberdesigner, thanks for flipping it around on me, though! you bring me down. except for the perkins cocktail. that was kind of up.

"if he threatened you then you should notify the authorities, if they won't do anything then its best to just drop it."
bullshit
- chz0
It should have been dealt with privately... end of story.
By creating a blog about it for others to see, hear and comment on it is just poor taste no matter what was said.
It shows the person who created it only did so for self gratification... what justice can be gained by doing so?

(Nov 12 05, 14:40)"Right... so creating a blog about it and making it public is a much better way to handle it.
- jevad0
well chris - that was/is his way of handling it - and I don't really see a problem with that. I, along with countless others on here, would probably have done exactly the same thing - dumbfounded that somebody could be such a complete asshole.
Obviously you have another way of dealing with something like this - but to come down on John for the way he chose to handle it is band out of order. Step off the moral high horse for a bit...
- jox0
Yeah, they have this special unit now at the FBI, dealing with drunk designers threatening people who crit their work. Why didn't he alert those guys!
