Illy CS vs 10?

Hey print people, I do mostly web but I did a print job recently. I had a job done in CS, with some type that had a yellow colour, and an image tiled in the background to look like carbon fibre.
He sent it to the printer who is running Illy 10, and says the carbon fibre look doesn't show up, and the yellow part is black or not in colour.
Anyone know the issues I'm running into?

doesn't sound like a version problem.. could be a bunch of different issue (are images embeded? colors CMYK? swatch names? etc etc).
save the art as a pdf to start with then that willl eliminate any 10 vs CS doubt.
worst case you could always just rasterize the art at a high res.

It sounds like a User Error.

i've had that problem before too. its a version problem. for an unknown reason, some artwork gets hidden when you save back to 10 from CS. its not a user error. it happens whenyou have to deal with printers that are stuck in the stone ages. my printer that i had to deal with was in taiwan. they didn't even want a press quality PDF either. lame shit. tell them upgrade or lose a client.
worst case scenario, save it as a huge tiff file.

Thx people. I might just end up saving it out as a tiff. The printer is in Korea.
The image is embedded as to my knowledge, the only way not to is to use 'place' am I correct?
Otherwise colours are CMYK and I think should be in order.

Tell your printer to upgrade. Can't tell you, using CS 2 Suite.

I'd love to, I'm only designing a print template box for my client, he's picked out someone in Korea already so I'm at their whim :-)

don't tell me u work for some technolgoy company. my mistake, my printer was in korean, not taiwan, while working with my previous employer/current clients.
best you can probably do is flatten all transparencies and rasterized artwork, outline all text, group everything, save as legacy illy v10 and hope that they don't fuck it up. or spend hours saving it as a big ass tif or eps. or build it in corel draw, their prefered app. blah!

not sure why your image disappears when you save it backwards. have you had the chance to open it v10 yourself to see if its there, but just hidden or if its been totally lost in translation?
im thinking that if its still in the file, but just hidden somehow, try building your artwork in multiple layers so they dont get mixed up somehow in the translation. gl
