Hi guys,
I'm about to buy a printer for freelancing with (well I'm not gonna get it for find me work - but will need to print the occasional thing).
I mainly do web work, but occasionally print, so it's not that important - although it is handy to test print something before sending off to the printer (even if the colours are inaccurate).
Budget - £100ish.
I have an HP 930c, and hate it to death.
Any recommendations? Epson? HP? Canon? Best (cheapest?) consumables.
If you can't be arsed replying - no worries - but if you have found a good printer/deal let me know.
Thanks,
Phil

Personally, I'd recommend a Canon A3, if it's for work - more money, but more versatile. You'll probably surprise yourself with all the things you can achieve with a larger print-size.. 3 page layouts, mini posters etc.
I watched this print quality/value comparison the other night on TV - Epson and Canon were the best, all-round (Epson trumping, mind) with sharper, longer-lasting prints and better ink cartridge value.
I've been using a Canon i9100 for about 2½ years, which has done me very well, but most designers seem to prefer Epson..

I was gonna get the R800 as the value for money is good but I heard mixed responses to the Epson on here. So I am gonna go with a Canon i9900.
I think...?

Epson never let me down + the cheap knockoff ink cart.(inkTek) for Epson printers never fails to match the orig. with color and sharpness

Thhe Epson R800 is a nice photo printer, but only average for text and graphics. Depends on your needs.
The 9000 series Canon models have been doing really well and I don't think you could go wrong at the moment with one of those either.

I'll be printing more design than photography (if at all) - so lots of graphics - the r800 a no?
