Anyone know if this can be fixed? Woke up this morning, opened the Powerbook and there was water running down the screen. The trackpad won't work.
At the mo I've got to use a broken USB mouse that jumps all over the place and takes three clicks to do anything.

Take it apart and go at it with a hairdryer. Where did the water come from in the first place?

Absolutely no idea =S

nae luck 5timmers!
Had to giggle a wee bit though that it happened after our conversation about it last night.
*sorry.

Took it apart, dried it, still fucked :(
Now I need to work out whether to just buy a new mouse or buy a brand new Powerbook :/
£30 or £2k...
I know what I want but I can't really afford it right now.

Anyone know where to buy a new top housing/palm rest with trackpad for a 1GHz 17" Powerbook? I've seen bottom case assemblies for around $280 but can't find the others. Anyone?

Oh, and to clear up where the liquid came from...
Pished + Tea + Powerbook = big mistake

hey Stimuli, join the spazzy club:
pished + beer + voila, trackpad soaked and knacked. I just use a mouse, it's nae bother.
Some techy guy took the whole thing apart when i worked at my last place and said it was stuck fast and their was no way I could even get under the trackpad to try to clean it.
SO, if you find out where to get the new housing / part... let me know! I've exactly the same model as yours.

just keep it dry for some hours (near a heating) and the look at it again.

Aye, probably not the smartest thing I've ever done - I feel like a prize phlange.
Still, new PB on the way. I'm riding the 12:49 to Debt Central.
JosimarX, I'll let you know if I find anything.
