haven't skated in about 10 years, but i'm really wanting to get back into it. not to compete or anything just wanting relax and get some exercise. would prob need a fairly technical board, not really any nice beaches or hills to ride along where i live, so i'll just be finding some nice spots to enjoy.
any tips on boards, trucks, wheels, etc... before i go buy one this afternoon.
i'm a pretty big guy if that makes any difference. 6'3" 220 pds.

I'm sure your local skate shop will be more than willing to set you up with the right shit.

I've got 20 years of skateboarding in my blood. Started to get back into it this year because we have free outdoor concrete skate parks here in Chicago.
Lost my step quite a bit, I used to skate constantly and it's frustrating to not have the smooth style at it that I used to have.

just dont buy an SMA/world industries deck, you'll snap it in a second.
trucks:
destructo/independent/krux/ventu... tensorwheels: well too many to mention: girl/flip/world industries/element/toy machine
decks: have a look whats feeling nice.

watch out for the new hellish concave they all have these days. cliche has been feeling good under my feet these days.

get indy trucks
that is all.

heres my take.. big guy wanting to cruise - nothing smaller than 8 inches wide.. no need to go smaller than that unless you want to get your kickflips back and do em everyday.. buy some good bearings and some decent sized soft wheels(unless you live in a hilly area and want to be check sliding) and youll be good to go.
indys are the only truck to worry about.

I've been rolling for since I was 14-15... 22 now and have been on 8 wheels less and less lately. Work and edumakation totally cuts into the time I use to spend on the street but I try to get out there at least once a week...
That shit is runs deep in my veins... I'm not the same if I'm not rolling.
mg33... this is bikemaker btw.
check out that cd packaging thread, I left you a message there.
Peace.

I hadn't skated in over 10 years but bought a board of ebay last spring.
I rode it to the beer mart a few times and it now sits by the door.
It's not the greatest but it was cheap cheap!

Oh yea... I can't really give you any advice on skateboarding because I rollerblade...
I'd guess that I'm going to be hated in this thread for that reason but to me the love of rolling is all the same.
Some advice I can offer is to stay true to the desire to get out there and tear it up. Like I was saying before... I'm just not myself when I ignore it for too long.

hate to say it, as i luv indy's, but they arent' turning as well as thunders these days
i would advice to get out to some concrete parks if possible and just start cruising around - finding and seeing lines

Weird, I almost hit up the local park last weekend.
As far as equipment goes, It's practically all made by the same company anyway. Hit your local shop.

wow it's just one big image but loving the look of that spitfire link from the delux site...
most shops will be real cool in helping you out. one piece of advice I can give is don't buy a deck one ebay or online anywhere. more than likely to get a warped board...
- fullerc0
my cheap cheap ebay board doesn't seem warped but I.m using it for just cruisin the hood and not at the skate park. I think they said it was made in the same factory and specs as Element....maybe it's a reject but it seems to work for what I do with it.

in the late 80's I was a good one, then I decided to stop being a slacker ^_^
