google has its own OS, heavily modified version of Linux with its own memory management and file system which they designed, anyway the whole point of google is to make the OS irrelevant and harness the web as a platform thus krushing its competitors, google will own the web no matter the os :( the way the web is going all a operating system will need to do will is open a web browser ( i.e. thin clients)

there was a company that was put out by bill gross idea labs.... desktop.com ...now its a toolbar but they created a simulated OS on the web... some people actually figured out how to make that the only thing to load up on a computer....
how do you know about their modified os? an article?

running app on web is an old news
in 1994 Oracle made a networking system that ran on your browser. using what you need as components.
funny thing is that i heavely researched this while back when i did comp sci.
compiling source on your browser. there was a fatal flaw which was bandwidth. now that the bandwidth is getting bigger, this is becomming more possible.
it is easy to compile C++ code in your browser if the browser has a compiler built in it.
this most likely means no more pirated software since you download license or pay per use on osftware..

I've done illustrations for them, does that qualify?

Ya, net terminal type personal computing isn't new in the least, but it sure is becoming more of a reality every day. I can see huge benefits to it, but at the same time it's a little disconcerting that all your data would be stored by a third party.

(Dec 19 05, 01:03)Because we want it now we want it now we want it now and they can put it out and never fix the bugs. Microsoft should do the same and they'd get away with developing shite.
If you dont like google reading your emails, dont use gmail. Buy your own domain, run your own email server under your own broadband connection.. simple - and no scary.
