Hello
I downloaded the Super Simple Blog script from:
But can't seem to make it work properly. I'm no PHP guru but the readme.txt file that came with the zipped file explained the installation process very well.
For some strange reason, the setup.php is not creating the "blogImages" directory. I tried creating the directory manually, did "add_blog" tried to upload an image but no image was uploaded.
Anyone have a solution?
Thanks a whole heap.

post the solution

it needed the the full path for the directory:
i.e "/home/path/www.google.com"
instead of just the parent directory where u want the blogImages folder created.

Is there anyway you can edit or delete a post?
plus can you just password protect the posting page?
any help or tips would be cool!
- heavyt0
yes, you can edit and delete by using the super simple cms script.

cool!
didnt know that!hopefully I can figure it all out!

just updated the script on supersimple.org. Now it is easier to change the file name of the blog (to index.ph or default.php, etc).
thanks,

if you have installed the blog and you need to add the cms to edit it, sorry if this is a silly question, but do you use the same mysql database????
- heavyt0
well, the CMS depends on a mysql_connect file which will give CMS control to all tables in the Db that you choose to connect to.
It does not create any new tables.simple answer - yes, connect to the same Db as the blog script uses.

thanks TR1
just that I can install the blog easy peasy!
but when adding the CMS area its not very clear for someone with little knowledge of PHP and databases.
so you make the changes to the CMS files (e.g stettings.php) and upload into the /cms dir on your website, but where do you put the mysql_connect.php file???
and then what file do you access so it 'connects' to your database???
so you can start editing your posts???
- heavyt0
it is much simpler than you think.
just upload it in the same file structure that it is packaged in.
If you want, you can use the same mysql_connect file that you are using for the blog script.the choosetable.php file will list all of the tables in that Db, just click on the 'entries', and have at it.

Your submission could not be processed due to a system error. We apologize for any inconvenience.
this is the error: Table 'entries' already exists

Thats all it say's, and it doesnt add entries. Damn, what am i doing wrong? What's the base url supposed to be?
- liquid0
umm....the cms controls the blog....why not just put them together..... I thought the cms was something completely separate...
- skelly0
I have two blogs. It's controlling the first one I installed. To make it control the second one as well, is it a matter of placing the cms files in the same directory as my second blog?
- heavyt0
the CMS can be used on any database, not just for the blog script. Although, I think that i will eventually make a package which has the blog, RSS, and CMS all together.
As far as the setup, it tries to create the table that the blog uses. Which is named 'entries'. If that table already exists. If you want 2 different blog instances on the same database, you will need to go into the code and create a unique name for the second table.
PS. i am adding a password for the add_blog page and will upload it soon.

That's what I figured. So I'd have to replace every occurance of "entries" in both the blog code and the cms code with the name of my second table? Just making sure I understand.
- heavyt0
that is correct. I dont really think that there are that many instances.
I guess i never dreamed that anyone would want 1 instance of my script, much less 2!!:D
cheers,
