I hate what I do.
That's why I won't stop till I despise it.

Do nothing, then worry about it in 15 months time.

(Jan 1 06, 20:32)sounds good! do a bit of travelling to find your true self...?

Seriosuly tho, take a break or just a no hassle job for a while. You might surprise yourself and actually miss it.

I'm looking for something more stable. Maybe bookkeeping or accounting.
With graphic design, any hack can get a cracked version of a software, and apply for the same job as you and ask for 30k less than what you're asking for.

It's 5am (well about 4am in Dundee)..lol.
Can't sleep nopublik or a heavy night?

Well, the truth is,
do you want to work somewhere where they would hire someone who would do lower quality work for less money only to gain a higher profit?
If you work for places like that you'll only drive your self crazy and hate your self, and what you do. (been doing it 7 years as well.)
Just do what you love, and do it for clients who respect your work and results.

Spaceboy,
I love being a designer.
I fell in love with it my junior yeat of school and haven't looked back.
Worked at a great agency in MD for a year, but then they lost a couple big clients and lost a few key pitches. Got laid off. No hard feelings, they even threw a happy hour for me, nevertheless it sucked royally.
Found a job in RI, worked there for a year, went through 3 managers in that time. The company was a mess, though I did get to work on some great projects. They got a new Marketing director, we didn't see eye to eye on the roll design could/should play, he fired me before I could quit. He was very vague in order to avoid a lawsuit, so the above is a bit of educated conjecture because he had told me days before what great work I was doing.
Moved out to MO to be with my family, wrote a book, did a website (still in progress), + stationery & poster. Sending packages out everywhere now.
I still love what I do.
I say take a year off man, travel, find what is meaningful to you. The only reason I've stuck it out through all this is that design is meaningful to me. I consider myself lucky to have found my calling.
Go out there, see the world, and find yours.

maybe you want to get into coding, that is what i did. There are not as many hacks, and with your background in design, i am sure that you would do well.
Gramme - not sure if it is useful to you, but you may want to check out the super simple flash detect script from http://www.supersimple.org
might like it better than your current flash detector.TR1

As someone once said, "dont get off the combine harvester to deal with the fieldmouse".
Just because a kid can get a bit of software and call himself a designer is no reason to give up design.
There's a lot more to it than that, surely.
Ive gone from a design job, to freelance, to my own company, now to a partnership and we'll be taking people on this year.
I certainly wont be looking for a kid who can copy other people s work, i'll be looking for personality, ingenuity, a proven portfolio and many other aspects.
Thats my 2 pence.
