Yuck. More form without meaning. Why do companies like Kodak and AT&T keep messing with good things?

oh no...

not an improvement imo. makes me think of hamburgers for some reason. would like to see it in a bigger context though.

"Simplifying is a big deal. Things are smaller. But big symbols scream out," Noonan said. "We decided that didn't work on handheld devices."

ehhhh I kinda' liked the old one that looked like it was from the 70's. If it ain't broke don't fix it

the article lists it as having been done by a NY firm, but does anyone know who?
- zerofour0
anyone know who did that? the typeface looks weird to me than what the brief saids.
- JazX0
looks like anyone over in these parts could have done that logo, even if it was custom designed, looks awefully familiar

god awful. why are dax and all its ugly little cousins the only font showing up in identities these days?
- kerus0
yay another totally meaningless logo. it could be for a candy bar or a soda or a shoe company. awful.

The old logo—what an ingenius little piece of design.
The new logo is so mediocre it's not even bad. Someone should have told them “‘brand’, not ‘bland’”.

Burger King should sue.
- tank020
and the typograohy from the new is actulally really bad...

The court in Haag for crimes against humanity should sue.

is that Dax? ohhhhh man....
- dbloc0
the weights of the letters all look different to me. Terrible redesign. The old logo was a classic.

That's not Dax or any of its cousins. The K and k are the same as before(either helvetica or universe). The o, d, and a have all become more geometric, as in circular, and are handdrawn from the original helv or univ letters.
I don't like or dislike it.
It is what it is.It reflects a little freshness I suppose, but it definitely loses any previous connection to cameras (unless you want to really stretch and interpreet the d as some sort of shutter button). Then again, Kodak's been distancing itself from traditional photography for years, so...

I think every large company that redesigns their logo gets thread here where everyone discusses how bad it is.
Anyone doing this for a living should know how much work went into this. Why not consider what motivated this and what problems it is solving. That is what design is about right?
The old logo isn't wonderful by todays standards and was broken, so yes, it did need fixing. The tiny word Kodak inside the symbol does not apply well when you have a quarter-inch square to apply it to.
