Doing a new movie and need references for type from the 1600s. The "witchier" the better. Anyone know of any or a place where i can browse fonts by time period?
Typographica?

Be careful to use the correct typeface...Anyone read the article in the NYTimes about typefaces in movies? They picked out a few examples of typefaces in period films that weren't even around yet.

Tribute is an amalgamation of several types from 17th c.,
Historical Allsorts (the top 2) are more literal translations of 17th c. faces after printing, w/ inconsistencies & gritty edges, etc...
don't use Caslon Antiqua. it sux.
