Hey pvn i've been developing this over summer to extend my flash skills and hopefully get me a sweet new job :)
It's not completely finished yet and some of the copy is a bit dorky, but let me know what you think.
Much appreciated.

SWEET.

You've got some good pieces there.
I just can't stand the blue. It's too bright and annoying. A blue like kinda makes the site less sophisticated. But that's just me.

cool thanks.
yes. the blue is bright ... maybe too bright, I guess I was trying to avoid having a grey folio. I'll try some variations and see what it looks like.

came up with a blank white frame within a blue bg so i'm assuming something is messed up. i'm on pc xp pro ie 6

the color on a designer's website shouldn't compete with the work, just my 2 cents.
a bit busy for me.

some of the buttons are overly clunky, and make for an uninviting navigating experience.
maybe shorten the animations when you mouse over some stuff?
the work is pretty tight though.

hmm yeah sorry I haven't tested it in ie as i'm on a mac. It's xhtml 1.0 strict so it should work in firefox.
I have used the flash satay method for embeding the flash so I might need to change that. thnx for the heads up.

the drop shadows don't seem to be doing the trick for you. I don't think drop shadows work for anyone 99.99% of the time. It's interfering with good ol' TheSerif on your logotype.
I'd rethink the grid pattern in the background. Right now it seems superfluous.

Perths a tough nut to crack, but you have some good work there.
who you going to apply to?
Sumo, Vivid, Itomic, Bam, Webfirm, cube 7, perthweb?
- Beech0
cool, i'll try some softer variations on the colour and try it with the grid more subtle or not there at all.
I'll speed up the rollovers too, i often make that mistake, i'm from a print background.
thanks guys.

Hey slappy, yeah I was going to try most of those place *sigh Perth* ... but I think more realistically i'm going to move to melbourne. The weather has sucked this summer anyway.

Melbourne rocks, what a town!
weather isnt as bad as people say and the arts+culture scene is huge compared to Perth.
Still I love Perth, Ill be here for a while. Its like living on holiday.
- Beech0
Yeah, I've got a great lifestyle here, but thats kind of it, I feel like i'm cruising, not really challenging ... and I think I would really appreciate the arts+culture of Melbourne as you say ... also i've never even been there!
- slappy0
go for a holiday there you will love it. I nearly didnt come back the first time I went.

i think if you take a more simple approach. Take out the blue grid bg and use a different shade of grey and keep it flat colour!!. Get rid of all drop shadows especially on the text. Lose the icons and use text instead. Also pick a nicer pixel font. And definately lose the bevels around the image frames. and get rid of all keylines around thumbnails etc. Sorry to say drop all the stuff, but simplicity is key to let your work take the focus.
good luck in the perf job hunt!
