hey folks..
just met with a client yesterday thats launching a new company..
the name is Inkstreams, and he's 'fairly' adamant that the font be some kind of handwrittin font..
anyhow, i just thought i'd see if some of you folks think i'm on the right trail, so to speak...
please be kind...

what does this company do?
illustration?

Nice ex!
I like no.9
- Luckypp0
I like 1 and 8. I don't like the quill illustration at a skew, it makes it look too 2D, when it should be 3D.

i hate those written fonts. what clients sometimes want...
about the logo: you could combine say one letter or just the 'ink' part in a scripty font and another color, and the rest in another more stylish font. that way you can avoid the pen and still refer to the ink of the pen.
- exador10
jevad, you're a fucking lifesaver..
yeah..that was my fav too...
:)as for the company, they're involved in 'digital ink'
http://www.allstream.com/service…its the old crew i used to work with at Allstream..there's gonna be a marketing push on shortly, and i've been asked to come in and do the work...
logo, website, etc...problem is, the project leader/headguy, has a thing for using handwritten fonts..since thats kind of integral to the product...
personally, i think logo #9 is the one to go with tho...

#2, if any of them. Just fix the gradient so it ends before the top of the nib.
- planet010
won't that starburst in the nib be a problem at press? or maybe it won't be printed?
anyhow, I like the font on the left, perhaps combined with a non-written font. something more modern. right now this font feels old to me.
maybe pull an printing element into the logo (not sure what) instead of the nib. right now, this looks more like an illustrators logo.
i'd agree though, of all of them, #2 is the strongest.

I'm not too stoked on any of the fonts. maybe something a little more 'signature-ish'?
try scralling it out a bunch of times and see which letterforms look best. then scan and trace/clean-up
you might want to add a little nod to digital as well... maybe similar to what xerox does with their logo?
http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/…
something 'bit-y' anyways.
I'd also lose the nib and maybe use blue rather than red. red ink has bad conotations.

1 & 2 are strongest. Though I would strongly recommend against using a handwritten font for a logo. Draw it yourself so it actually will be handwritten instead of fake, y'know?
- monNom0
along that stealing from xerox line:
maybe a pen stroke that transforms to bits toward the end?
if that doesn't say digital ink I don't know what does...
may be done already though, check the competition.

2 or 5

i agree with this. if you are trying to make it look like a hand written font, then the best way is to actually hand write it. if the nib is to be used, maybe put the text into perspective so that it looks as if the pen is writing it?
- yeeblazer0
agree with monnom that is....

Hey exador1, I just did up some examples of ideas I had for you and tried to email them but the email you have posted here on NT just spit the email back at me. If you want this EPS file then post your email address.

ex. after reading the outline you posted, is seems that efficiency is the ultimate monkey for this company. I know that the handwritten aspect is close to mandatory, but you may want to inject tech and efficiency into this logo.
In fact, I would practice some tough love with duder, and let him know that logos are for perspective costumers to quickly understand what it is that they do. not for the enjoyment of managers.

no.9 is the by far the nicest. Think the red pen looks better next to the red lettering, rather than sandwiching the black...if you catch my drift!
