so i was working, got a "you need to restart" screen, and restarted. the machine hung while booting up, so i restarted again, this time holding down shift to get into safe mode or whatever mac people call it.
i remembered a trick my IT guy told me about going into preferences in the startup section and chose another startup drive. unfortunately, i think i put it on "network" and when i restarted now it just flashes a gobe before eventually flashing a question mark.
PLEASE tell me you know of a way to get it to boot up!

you got the system cd? throw that in and hold down 'c' during startup.

or.. hold down option key (i think) during startup...lets you choose a startup disc from list of available volumes)

also, if you just wait long enough it will go back to the last working startup disk preset...but the other options are more time-friendly
