Quick question for one of you in the know. I want to print some of my designs onto t-shirts in silver and gold. However I don't have silver or gold in Illustrator how do I do this can i give the design to a printer and they do a colour replace or is there so sort of pug in?? Any help much apprectiated

You just let the printer know what colour you want printed in silver or gold. Well, thats what we do with foil prints anyway.

Thanks bro, will do that. Out of interest is there away to display the colours on screen? Or am i just being a muppet?

You can open up the Pantone swatch palettes and use them. But since you're doing a t-shirt and they won't be using pantones it's a bit pointless.
When you set up your artwork pick a distinct colour that represents your metallic (eg black = gold, magenta = silver) and use them. But make sure you always use that colour in all instances.
Then just make a note at the side of the artwork telling the printer that anywhere they see magenta they should print silver etc.
