My friend bought that Epson, and the quality when printing vectors and type was garbage, now I realise that type from any inkjet is not going to be comparable to the output of a laser but the edges were not even smooth at all on that thing. ex: outputting a 5" x 5" circle from illustrator would even result in choppy looking edges. He ended up returning it the next day and getting a Canon, although I am not sure of which model of Canon he got. Both my i9900 and i960 (an older letter sized photo printer from them) print nice clean crisp vectors and v. nice photos.

I've got a first gen CANON IP5000 - which I expect is very similar to the one you've linked. The quality is simply fantastic. Photos on photo paper are on par with standard chemical prints - I can't fault it.
You'll need to play around with different paper stocks and printer settings to get your sharp black text printing well - but once you've got it right, it's very good, and very fast.

My Cannon also has a dual paper source which comes in very handy. You can fill up with plain stock, and feed posh-stock in the top.

I too have a very similar Canon, and can confirm that it is the muts nuts.

Only concern with that Canon is that it says it only has 3 colours, whereas the epson has 6...
nut the dpi is better on the canon..
now i know bugger all about printers but is 3 colours not a bit shit?
might be sounding dumb here, but never had much to do with printers... :D

Didn't notice that. Mine has 5 - CMYK, and an extra black.
