MEDIA TEMPLE
I have not used Media Temple, but from what I hear it's fine if you primarily use HTML (and Flash) and are a sucker for their purty icons. http://www.mediatemple.net/DREAMHOST
If you are looking for cheap hosting with a lot of drive space, bandwidth, and friendly tech support I recommend DreamHost. I like their PHP, MySQL, and email setup. (Say that "tweedmag.com" recommended them when you're signing up.) http://dreamhost.com/PAIR
Now if you've got some extra cash and a site that needs the best server hardware, software, and security I recommend Pair. They are *the most reliable* hosting service I know of. Not so cheap, but their simplicity and uptime can't be beat. (Say that "o-r-g.com" recommended them when you're signing up.) http://pair.com/

i would also add Rackspace to that. they are unreal in service, quality and profesionalism. if you got the dough, they are the tops.

Madirish, I hadn't heard of Rackspace before. Thanks for the tip! For everyone's reference, http://www.rackspace.com

PVN EXCLUSIVE
This is a little taste of the new (mt) Media Temple Shared Platform feature set:
http://www.mediatemple.net/serviā¦
This new platform will be launching this summer; very similar to a LARGE Blockbuster summer movie with Bruce Willis and say...Chuck Norris?
you stay awesome PVN.

i dont trust hosts that can be called any moment by 1998 to demand its scanlines back.

New MT SS packages look great, I have been with them quite some time and find their service first rate. With the added addition of PHP5 etc.. in the Summer, I'd go MT.

yas! rails on MT... still no FMS tho.

lets see..
A: (mt) Media Temple has carefully developed a plan to ensure the smoothest migration for the all of the 50,000+ domains we host.
So 50,00 (using the base number of clients) * 7.95 (given that everyone has the cheapest plan) = 397,500 per month.
Thats a lot of dough! I need to move into the hosting business :)
