How many people are frustrated with/at work? How many people love their work?
Sometimes I think the only way I will truely be happy (creatively) is to be out doing my own thing. That or if a giant bird flew out of the sky with a bag of money and threw it at me.
Either one is fine.

I am constantly frustrated and constantly excited - it's like giving yourself a Donkey Punch. But then again thats what i get for starting my own Business (with 2 partners)

life is about compromise. i don't think anyone can be happy all the time, no matter what they are doing.
as far as work goes..i'm not saying i like it, i just find it suprisingly tolerable. could be way better, but coudl be a hell of a lot worse too.
remember to always look at both sides of the coin.

im bored.
i spend most of my time doing complexed diagrams and colouring plans at the moment for architecture plans/reports.
only thing keeping me here is the good money. what frustrates me most is the fact that none of it is stuff I would want in my portfolio - for someone who is at the begining of my career, that scares me a bit...
need some freelance work I think to balance it out

Frustrated with work: Yes
(it's technically school, though)
Love it? Not really. But who cares about that, my question to you, kreydle, is what is "doing your own thing" for you? And will it really be fulfilling for yourself and as a contributor to society (if that even matters to you)?
I ask only because I know that with no purpose, and without sharing my ideas with the world (aka: contributing to something), I feel empty and lifeless.

I feel the same. I long for complete creative freedom and being able to chose my clients.
The only way is to go it alone.*Makes appointment with bank manager.

I hated my last job.
I went freelance (not out of choice) but happily landed plum on my feet, I have been nonestop ever since (6 months ago). I love the creative freedom and interactivity wirth clients. I do get lonely (on a design basis) sometimes as I live in the sticks.
Going it alone I have found fun and rewarding and I remeber why I did design in the first place. Ultimately want a full time job to gain more experience but then I will start my own.

where do your clients come from dancer? (I mean how do you get them not geographically)

I have a good job. We do work really big clients. That's great for my portfolio but on the down side you don't have a great deal of freedom when working with such established brands. You have the agency that creates the initial look then all these other people produce commercials, web sites, displays...whatever based on it. I do things on the side that give me my creative fix. Of course I'd like the two worlds to be close together.
