okay. what CHMOD settings do I need to use if i want to pass a variable into my .swf embedded in a .php page.
my markup is cool. i just never really understand CHMOD because i'm not a PHP person.
can someone help.

if the swf is in the php file, and you arent writing from another file, or to another file, then you just need reed permissions on that file.
Chmod is good when you need to publish to a separate file.
so, if you were writing the vars to an XML file, and then using the swf to get the var from the XML, you would want the XML file to have 755 or 777 permissions.

passing a variable from php to swf has nothing to do with CHMOD
- ldww0
why do you need to change file permissions to do that?

chmod and passing variables to a swf don't really have anything to do with each other.
chmod is to set permissions on a file, so if, for some reason users can't seem to open the swf in a browser, then the permisions might be too strict, but again, that has nothing to do with passing params.
To pass parameters (variables), you want to add them to the calling url (in your embed / object tags)
so wherever you have your swf name, add the params like this:
myanm.sql?var1=blue&var2=potato
then the swf will have the variables var1 and var2 with the values 'blue' and 'potato' respectively.

"The "Premature end of script headers" error message is probably the most loathed and common error message you'll find.
What the error actually means, is that the script stopped for whatever reason before it returned any output to the web server."

i love it when it works but me and php is like Israel and Hezbollah.
- enobrev0
so, there's probably an error somewhere.
all the way at the top of your php file, put:
and then load the page, it might be able to tell you why teh script is failing.
(what up unfit - been a while)
