If it's August you are thinking of coming over then i'd reccomend Edinburgh. during aug theres allsorts of festivals on throughout the city including the world famous fringe festival.
the town is PACKED with tourists through the month so book pronto.
for info on places to stay, attractions and events, check out ...
all the festivals are listed here
http://www.edinburgh.org/events/…its a well hot summer over here at the moment and one of my mates is just back with his gf after being up north for a couple of weeks. said weather was amazing. nice sights up north.
go see if you can spot the Loch Ness Monster ;)

thanks!

Come and stay in Edinburgh for the duration then take trips to Glasgow for shopping and up north if you like hills and shit.
When the festival is on in August you don't really need to leave Edinburgh. It's a great time to be in Edinburgh, you'll like it.

Some good deals on here for accommodation now and again.

i'd go with jnr madisons suggestions to stay in Edinburgh (if you can get a place cos its choccablock) then just go daytrips up north, to glasgow or the east coast.
if your wife likes walks up hills there theres some good ones smack in the middle of edinburgh.
Arthurs Seat
and The Castle Rock
and dont forget this construction

Defo hit Edinburg and Glasgow...and St Andrews for even more history and a lovely little town.
I'd even say - if you have the time and are so inspired...that you head on up via car or train to Aviemore/Inverness and follow the coast up to Helmsdale and eventually Thurso

Travel south for a few hours and visit England, there are fewer jocks!
- chossy0
but far more filthy english, I had this great plan to build wall round your country then fill it full of water but some English cunt stole it.

lol @ jamble
yeah, go to st.andrews its a nice part of fife. go on a good day and soak up some sunshine on the massive long beach. grab some ice cream from genettas ice cream shop up near the cathederal on south street.
visit the castle and the cathederal too.train to aviemore/inverness is a good shout too.
if you's are after clothes shopping then glasgow is the place to go. although, for your wife theres loads of really cool shops around edinburgh hidden away if u know where to look.

lots of places to visit, does anyone has any idea how much is a rental car per day average in Edinburg. I have heard that taking a train might be cheaper but i still like the comodity of a car.

You should check out Drumchapel in Glasgow

Honeymoon '04:
Edinburgh: had great Castles and touristy everything else.
Stirling: had a fat castle, big history stuff, cute beautiful village, big William Wallace history. Romantic.
Inverness: gorgeous hills, castles, history, the highlands remote roads are a must, eat haggis (get a dictionary).

The main cities are good.
Anywhere up north would be nice.
St Andrews, Avemore, Oban.
Its mostly all green mind you...but nice all the same.Enjoy!

Forget the cities, just go to the west coast, see the islands of Skye and Mull for a start, avoid tourist spots, head up some Monroes (mountains over 1000 metres) see stunning views, maybe even get to Uist, I was there last year and it was amazing... blue skies, white beaches, no tourists just us and the beautiful Scottish islands.

Did a tour of my homeland not so long back, and can honestly say Fort William is my favourite place. Scenery is amazing, and there's a fair bit to do. Just don't go on the cable car!
Edinburgh also, Ghost walks are mint, get to go in all these dirty tombs n that.
cukkoo.
