have a client who has consistently been late with
payments, supplied artwork to work off of, general text data and then when recieved, decides to change his mind last minute before the deadline ( that he has up'd, cause I apparently work to slow ). Come to find out I'm at least the third studio he has contracted to do this work.
Now they give me an unmeetable design today and then an ultimatium and harsh words for my "professionalism"At what point do you say bye!
anyone have to ever do this?

Are you all paid up?

that is we're the contract comes in... If you don't have one, just be professsional and tell them he should find someone else to work with. My contract states either party can end the agreement for work. But any work done will be paid for by taking it out of the deposit and returning any leftover monies. Should be no big deal, as long as he really is the problem...

Tough call mate. But sometimes you just have to do that. Trust your instincts, only you know if this client is truely worth it or not.
---on a side note--
your microstudio site has a typo "Latest project pubblished"

hard to say. Will there be ongoing work after the project completes?
if so, I'd sever now, as you client is unlikely to grab a brain and get you things in a timely manner. They'll drag you down as long as they've got free time on their hands.
otherwise, batten down and finish up the work. better to leave a client satisfied then to have them drag your name through the mud.
in the future, you might add a clause to your contract that states reworking elements after sign-off of a milestone, or false starts based on client input, get billed 150% or 200%. to better control scheduling.
you never know when a choice job will come along, and being tied up with an indecisive client might mean you'll miss it.

the good thing with web based stuff is we can close sites down if no payment is recived, that always makes them pay. If you have access to any ftp details that is.
but if its messing with other clients work, you may have to re-think what you are doing 4 this fool

--another side note--
brochure is misspelled under options. If you can afford it. Let the client go and use the time to find a better client.

thanks for alll the responses gang,
the client had made "promisies" of future work, but as time went on and his attuitude changed I started to realize I may not want them. So today he writes me an email saying your severed from the project- HA!!!
I agree we were wasting WAY to much time trying to please a client that in honesty don't think could have been pleased.Turns out today just after teh email - I get a call from a national food brand wanting us to do web work for them!! Oh the irony!!!
thanks again gang
-oh an no he is not paid up and has owed us for a while- too bad he cant get into his site now ;)

client was fired today at 5 pm.
He sent MANY verbal harassment emails to me calling me unprofessional, un-creative
( oh no! ) even though it was his so called "designer" that did the layouts.Felt so f'n good to do it!
I now truly understand how he/they have been through 4 other studio/agencies and are probably onto their fifth. On my part, this should haveraised flags from the onset.Be Cautious! don't take work when your gut says hold on, even if you needed the dough at the time.
