Wait, did YOU read that article?
"Last month, Chavez ordered a state takeover of several major oil operations that had been controlled by foreign-owned corporations. France's Total SA and Italy's Eni SpA refused to cooperate with contractual changes mandated by Chavez. Sixteen firms, however, including Royal Dutch Shell, Chevron Corp., and Spain's Repsol YPF, all agreed to the terms of a reworked contract with Venezuela that grants the state greatly increased revenue shares and operational control."
In the 1990s, Venezuela opened its oil industry to private investment, which resulted in the creation of 32 operating service agreements with 22 foreign oil companies.
Where in that article does it say the U.S. is trying to strongarm Venezuela?
Did you post the wrong article?!?

Worldwide oil interests want their old deal back is the point.

It's a new Middle Ages come upon us folks...with corporate interests replacing Kings of old...turning us all into serfs...
- garett_west0
Are you fucking kidding me?
You're kidding me right?!?
I want world fucking peace but I ain't gonna get it. Your whole arguement was based around what the "worldwide" (and you said worldwide mind you) oil interest wants, which says NOTHING to what you first posted about the United States's ONLY issue with Chavez was oil.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH!
You posted an article that debunked your own viewpoint.
Friggin hillarious man.
I'm off to lunch now. Thanks so much for that great laugh.

"Often contrarian, Turner called it a "joke" that Bush demanded that Iran abandon any ambitions for nuclear weapons while at the same time hoping to ban all such bombs.
"They're a sovereign state," Turner said of Iran. "We have 28,000. Why can't they have 10? We don't say anything about Israel -- they've got 100 of them approximately -- or India or Pakistan or Russia. And really, nobody should have them."
http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/09/20…
i agree though.
nobody should have them. and if we do, any souvereign state should have the right to defend themselves.
- mrdobolina0
garett, seriously...
How did I debunk my own point? Most of the oil companies are headed by americans. I said worldwide because of the french companies and so on.
You are so interested in winning arguments that you lost the entire point of the article.
I honestly don't expect you to be able to wrap your head around this thing though. Just keep thinking in terms of "the axis of evil" and things that are spoonfed to you and pay your taxes on time so that the US army can fight for the power of the economic elite.

Ted Turner -
"They're a sovereign state," Turner said of Iran. "We have 28,000. Why can't they have 10? We don't say anything about Israel -- they've got 100 of them approximately -- or India or Pakistan or Russia. And really, nobody should have them."
Hey Teddy... you have how many billions of dollars, why don't you give me 1 million of that? I wonder what good ol Teddy would think if the interviewer would have said that to him in response.
I bet if I asked he'd hold onto that TIGHT!
That is irony. What a bafoon.
