This is my first site. Are any of these worth showing the client or do I scrap these ideas and start over?

link works for me.
heading out right now but really quick...
the one thing that really sticks out to me is that blue. i realize it is in the logo, but that really is kind of a harsh color (reminds me of old html links).i think that number three has some potential. i'm a big fan of large imagery and such.

i like the first one. but, make the footer smaller. so there is only about a 10 pixel buffer on the top and bottom.
i'd also say to get rid of the white opacity in the image and just have it look like the image in number 3.
if you are going to show a client, try and get some text from there existing website or from them first. try not to show the dummy text.
other than that, its a good comp.
i love the domain. themayocynic. haha.

this is a total start-up thing, so they don't have any official text yet. i guess i can grab from a write-up at a recent trade show. Thanks.

also, be sure to look at other websites in the company's field. you'll get a good feel for the market. find what everyone is doing on their websites, and then don't do that. haha. it sounds weird but when i do a website for a company, i usually like to make it a little different from the status quo.
make sure to use good typography. try to work with a grid on the site if you can. i think one thing that most company websites are lacking is good, clean typography.
also, try not to fall into the trap of any current style. inject your own style and it will make the site really work, yknow?
just a few thoughts. i could be way off.

I like #1 the best at this point. But it needs more. Seems like its a good start, now go in and add the lights and darks to make it pop.
Seems like it needs a border to ground the horizontal nav from the content. Same with seperating the content from the footer.
And the left side, next to the logo, is begging for something. Phone #, email some quick info stuff maybe

HAhaha mattyd, the only problem is this alliance is made up of members of a good chunk of the lighting control companies. They're banding together to promote the use of lighting control vs. regular switches. So they all think that their sites are the best! But i can definitely try to put more of my style in there.
Thanks joyride, that's some great input as well.

This is a good start...I agree with 13 that the blue is a little harsh, it seems like a color that was "in" maybe three years ago...With that said, I like the second comp the best, minus the fact that the type on the left looks like a Powerpoint presentation (sorry, their not fighting words heh). i think if you crop the images a little more creatively it could make it more interesting and less template looking. Nice start tho...
