Hi Guys,
Just been on thi site
http://www.suburbdesign.co.uk/
and have been wondering for a while how, if you click on a piece of work, the images which follow the first are consecutively loaded one after each other so that when you click on them you dont have to wait for another preload.
How is this done?
Can anyone point me to tutorials
Cheers

i can't believe people are still using that or even want to

I dont mean the scroll aspect I Mean the Image loading, i.e. they load one after the other even though you havent clicked on them.

if you look into the code on that site i highly doubt they are using anything close to Joshua Davis' old ass script.
he uses a hidden movie to adjust the slider position.
this can be more easily done with way less code using the Tween class within a function.
possibly for the loading of the thumbnails they are using a looping statement that tells flash to load all movieClips until a certain number has been filled. a hack around this would be to place code inside your loaded movieClip to load the next onto the main timeline.
for tutorials i'd search for loading multiple movieClips or looping statements.

Use the MovieClipLoader class.
It's similar to loadMovie, except that it has niice little listeners which you can use. ie. Like checking when one image or file has finished downloading. Check out the help section in Flash, I'm pretty sure it actually tells you how to do that in there.

can anyone expand on this a little more?

example of MovieClipLoader class i've written, with a callback function. this could be used in conjunction with a loop to load images.

Any chance you could spoon feed me how to do that?
Thanks for your time
- jarredbishop0
it's too complicated to "spoon feed" through a forum like this. try doing some tutorials like the one below. once you understand attaching/creating movieClips dynamically, it shouldn't be too hard to put the MovieClipLoader script i showed you before.

i need that too.
this is how far i came
(made the images larger so i can see the time needed for loading)
