the difference between labels and folders is...
?

with labels, the emails arent hidden - as they would be in a folder. theyre just.. labeled, so you can search for them.

i guess i use my labels like folders. they're all shown on the side. and they do disappear from the main page. i only see them when i click on the label name. works just like my folders in entourage.

yeah i think labels work better than folders. you can have an email with more than one label while when you archive an email with folders, it's just stuck in one folder.

label and move them to the archive.

why the fuck would anyone use gmail if you want to use folders? that's the farking point of gmail! it 'searches'....
- ldww0
because i hate searching.
i like knowing that my things are organized into groups. it makes sense to me.

but it could be kept nice and tidy with folders.
some of my emails stare me down and want me to reply when really i want to hide them in a folder.

(Oct 24 06, 13:21)so by default, from the beginning, w/o question, gmail is the incorrect webmail option for you.

everyone complaining about no folders...
*label then archive your email*
it's the same thing. it goes away from your inbox.
i never search for anything, i just click the label names on the left as if they were folder, then bam everything come up.
go back to inbox... empty.
it functions just like a folder.

i agree, gmail is wrong for you
but labels are more flexible...of course the "All Mail" box will show all your mail, but the inbox doesn't have to...archive everything after labeling
then you can have it all organized
or use yahoo mail beta
