Hi,
Could anyone point me to some good books, tutorials, help files about the basics of content management systems. I mean the real basic, like just starting out.
Cheers

are you wanting to build one, or just understand what one is...
do you program already....
this is a GREAT book, that steps thorugh alot of components of a cms:
http://apress.com/book/bookDispl…i learned alot from it, but it kinda assumes you already have a grasph of programming with php...

yeah, i would *strongly* recommend you decide/resolve what area of CMS dev. you are looking to exploit, and then with the knowledge and data structure yu believe is the 'best' find an OS CMS that folows your same principals and 'join' that CMSs' community. this will save you loads and loads of dev time and when (not if) you need ot mod sections, expand them, add-on functionality, you can go back to that community and pick up a module already developed and plug it in, or, refer to what is being done already and add to it for your project, etc. anything youdev that you fel the system could benefit from you then inturn release back to the community for peer-review and code betterment.
i have been on both sides to this and i can honestly say, joining a cmmunity is a far better solution code and business-wise.
