(Nov 7 06, 16:14)Hey surfito:
I bought my legit copy of ableton live a few months ago, on EBAY!!!new, sealed box, un registered, legitimate copy, (edutational version) for like $250
then registered online, and when V6 came out I got the update for free.
well worth it. and way cheaper than buying from the site.
;)
DO IT!

great deal you got Meeklo!
im loving the program so far. i know a guy that knows it insideout thats going to give me some tutorials in it too and get me all setup correctly.
im trying to work out what kind of controller to get myself at the moment.
i need to be able to play keyboard into ableton to create music so i can use my microKorg for this (midi).but when playing live i want to be able to trigger samples/channels and tweak knobs. so i'd been looking that the ...
M-Audio Trigger Finger
http://www.m-audio.com/products/…or the
Akai MPD24
http://www.akaipro.com/prodMPD24…The akai offers more banks and is a newer model. im just worried that its not as "plug in and play" as the triggerfinger.
The guy i know thats well into Ableton had suggested i maybe got the Korg MicroKontrol
http://www.korg.co.uk/products/s…
as it has both a keyboard and knobs/sliders/padsThen theres the alternative to that ... The Novation Remote SL
http://www.novationmusic.com/pro…decisions decisions!!!!!
i dont know whether to go for one of these ones WITH keyboards so that i can make tunes on the road too or whether to just go for the Akai/trigger finger and if i need a wee keyboard then get a wee 25key piece of kit for £40-50
Anyone got any of this kit that they would swear is better than the other stuff?
what does everyone else use with their ableton?
- acescence0
the phone doesn't actually run live, it just controls it via bluetooth
one of the original creators of live played a gig at the museum last summer, he had a controller he had built himself in a wood box, it was badass. played the whole gig just tweaking that box, sounded great.

want to hear an Ableton look I just made?

Ableton is cake to use. Cakier than Cakewalk on a Cake.
Experimental track I made: http://www.machnewmedia.com/mp3/…
friend played the trumpet, sampled and resequenced. some reason tracks in there. but basically I pitch shifted it to match the trumpet. silly really

here is one of mine, only posting the first few minutes for ovbious reasons..

i use the maudio O2 with live and reason. i paid 70 bucks on ebay for it shipped. i want to upgrade soon though. i recently bought an mbox with protools as well. i just wish i had time for all this stuff.
with the microkontrol, that was my next option, but when i played with it at guitar center the keys were a bit to small for me. i rather have full sized keys. but all the knobs and sliders are great.
- alkanenine0
oh yeah, forgot to say, the maudio ozone is a decent keyboard as well. works with live, reason and the protoolsM version. having a built in audio interface is great on it. http://www.m-audio.com/products/…
- Meeklo0
M-audio is decent, but if you have the chance to get your hands on edirol, korg, evolution or akai. I would go with those..
